This novel was published by Puffin in 2007 for teenaged readers. It is set in a railway town, nestled in the thick forests of central-eastern India. It explores the region through the eyes of a thirteen year old boy, Kabir, who stumbles across a forgotten tribe, gets embroiled in an unsolved murder of a missionary and discovers the intricacies of politics and faith through his friendship with young Alika, who lives in a tribal village at the edge of the city.
