About the event

How might we think about collective as an active and elastic term? Carpet Conversations brings together various people in Geneva to collectivise and embody a moving Imbizo (meaning gathering in Zulu) to discuss safe space. What is safe space? What are the misconceptions around it? What are the possibilities that safe space holds? As such, how might our gathering over the course of two weeks begin to challenge notions of dominant safety — that is property, belonging and language — through simply coming together, sitting down on the same plane, and exchanging. Khensani will host moments on the carpet in various places throughout her urbanology residency in Geneva, with a few surprises here and there. Think collectivising!

In this urbanology talk, Khensani will share her insights from Geneva as well as her work from around the world.
